i am a sheep
I finally got myself a spiffy new iPhone 3gs and I’m loving it. It actually has made my life more organized In the few days I’ve owned the device. It really is a techies dream come true . Useless post but a post none the less. Now go get yourself an iPhone too!
I’m Back
I kind of fell off the blogging cart for a while. Gonna give this another try and see if I can stick with it. The last year of work for me was just mentally draining and I didn’t have the thought to post on the blog often and it just melted away.
Just started a new job and I am very happy with the work I am doing – Active Directory, Vulnerability Assessments, Intrusion Detection, etc. The last place I was at was mentally and emotionally draining (my wife can back me up on that one). The new place is a beautiful brand new facility with some nice ammenities. People are very professional and helpful, and laid back at the same time. I’ve only been here 2 1/2 weeks, but so far it seems like a wonderful place to work. I’m enjoying it so far.
A legend has left us today…
Gary Gygax passed away at the young age of 69 years today. You may ask who is this man that I speak of. He was responsible for creating a game that is near and dear to my heart – Dungeons and Dragons. I remember when I was young and my Mom took me to get a birthday present sometime in my pre-pubescent years. We went to Fat Moose Comics and Games in at the Morris County Mall in northern NJ. I remember exactly what I got – the red box Dungeons and Dragons Beginner set. I must have played the solo adventure in that box about a million times
Dungons and Dragons lead me to so many of my interests in my life. Tabletop wargaming, board and card games, painting and drawing, you name it. It lead me to friendships and good times which I will always cherish. Afterall, anyone who’s played or currently plays D&D knows that it’s not about the dice and the books and the pencils…….it’s about the people that you spend the time with playing these games – escaping the drudgeries of every day life and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Thanks for everything Gary. I will forever be in your gratitude for the games you created and how they’ve changed my life. Rest in peace.
is this a mid life crisis?
I have been pondering the idea of learning to play the guitar for about a year now, and lately I have been researching instruments in my spare time. It’s been a while since I played bass guitar and I’ve really had the itch to pick up an instrument as of late. I am in love with the Les Paul sound but unfortunately I don’t have a $2000+ budget to throw into a guitar
So I came across this bad boy that has received really good reviews:
The Epiphone brand basically makes lower end models of famous guitars like the Gibson Les Paul and Fender Stratocaster to name a few. With some new strings and perhaps some new pups down the road, I think this things can be a tool to let me play the styles of music I want (blues, jazz, metal).
I just hope all of this is not a mid life crisis
standing on top of the world…
They did it! My NY Football Giants, the GEEEEEEEEEEMEN!!!!!! To all the haters…..all the naysayers……..all the people who didn’t believe – Believe it now! Elijah Manning has lead us to the promised land. Toomer and Strahan finally get their rings, and the future is looking real bright with all of our rookies looking like big time seasoned veterans. There is a lot to be happy for today, not only for the championship, but for the future as well. I love you Big Blue.
GO GIANTS!!!!!!!!!! SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS FOR THE THIRD TIME!!!!!!
pajama party
“The Roc” has a pajama party at school today. All the kids get to bring their favorite stuffed animal and blanket – while wearing pajamas. Man I really wish I could wear pajamas to work. He’s been doing really well with school and he seems to be liking it. One day and one step at a time….
Running again
I finally started working out again. I guess my lapse over the last couple of months was due to many things – holidays, laziness, finding out about Rocco’s Autism. Now that I am past the stressful part of all those things mentioned I feel like I can put 100% into my fitness goals again. I’ll tell you what – working out is great therapy. It sucks at first getting up at 6am to run in subzero temperatures or to hit the weights, but it will be all worth it going forward. 4 days a week with the weights and 3 days a week on the run. Health is wealth, and I plan on becoming very wealthy
I hear it’s warm and sunny in Arizona
Superbowl here we come! BIG BLUE baby!!!!
It’s 3 hours later and 1am and I am just coming down from my adrenaline rush. Manning played a smart game and made no mistakes. Defense didn’t get much pressure but our secondary shut down Favre and the Green Bay offense besides one big touchdown play. Amazing the the Giants have beaten the NFC South Champs, NFC East Champs and the NFC North Champs all on the road to get to the Super Bowl. Week 17 showed that our boys can hang with the Patriots…..and guess what? The Giants are on the road again. I say they have more than a fighting chance to take them down.
So many players came up big today in the history making Ice Bowl II. But none as big as this man. We hated him twice in one night but will now remember him forever for this one play
GO GIANTS!!!!!! BEAT THE PATS IN SUPER BOWL 42!!!!!!!
let me bitch about cell phones…
Cell phones. Humans have become so dependent on these convenient little devices that they feel naked without them. Some people get a sense of self worth if their cute little electronic communication device has more doo dads and widgets then the next guys. And then you have these little brats that sit and “text” all day long instead of actually having a real life conversation with someone. I hate the damn things….wish I didn’t have one actually besides for emergency purposes. Things I hate about cell phones are as follows and I quote:
The guy who walks around with the stupid little bluetooth headset on his ear and is never talking on it – wearing it just in case Henry Kissinger calls (blatent George Carlin ripoff)
The asshole that for some reason thinks that we all need to hear his annoying generic ringtone in the office as it rings away on this desk while hes pinching one off in the mens room
The Mr. Self Important guy who feels the need to yell as loud as he can so everyone here’s his “important” conversation, which in turn, makes him feel oh so important
I’m sure there is more but that is all that came into my head. Rant over. End of transmission…
and on to the Frozen Tundra….
The Giants pulled off one of the biggest wins that I have ever witnessed today. From the onset of the game the Big Blue D did not have an answer for Marion Barber III. Up 14-7 with 53 seconds left in the first half, Eli Manning engineered an amazing drive and brought it even. In the second half the Giants D rolled. The end came with 9 seconds left in the game when Tony Homo threw into triple coverage and R Dub came up with it……now only if he can stop wearing the effing bandaid on his cheek
GO GIANTS!!!!!!!! Thanks for stomping those cockroaches!!!!!!
